Saw Doctor

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Saw Doctor to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the service, maintenance and repair of all industrial cutting edges used in our manufacturing operations. This role requires a meticulous approach and technical expertise to ensure all tooling meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and repair a wide range of cutting tools.
• Perform essential maintenance tasks such as sharpening saws to exact specifications.
• Carry out repairs using techniques such as brazing and replacing damaged teeth.
• Manage and follow scheduled maintenance and tool change programs to ensure optimal uptime and efficiency.
• Maintain precise records of all work carried out.
• Uphold and enforce all workshop safety standards and best practices.
• Operate and maintain a variety of manual, semi-automatic, and computer controlled (CNC) grinding machines.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Saw Doctor or in a relevant environment is essential.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency in grinding and repairing saw blades.
• Brazing and metalworking skills.
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with high attention to detail.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills to resolve complex cutting issues.
• Good organisational skills to manage work schedules and maintenance records.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team in a fast paced enviroment.
• Proficiency with relevant computer software for managing equipment and records.
• Full UK driving licence (if travel to different sites is required).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £13.00-£14.50 per hour

Expected hours: 39 per week
