Hours Saturday, 8am – 5pm. Sunday, 9am-4pm.

Salary Up to £12.21 per hour, paid monthly in arrears.

About the Role:

We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, friendly and experienced Team Member to join our team at bagels + schmear, a busy and growing bagel bakery. As the first point of contact for our customers, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing transactions, and ensuring a welcoming environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• To provide warm, friendly and polite service always, ensuring every customer is delighted with their order and their bagels + schmear experience.
• Answer questions about our products and provide recommendations based on customer preferences.
• Operate the cash register, handle cash, and process credit/debit card transactions accurately.
• Ensure all transactions are completed efficiently and with a high level of accuracy.
• Upsell and cross-sell bakery products to enhance customer experience and increase sales.
• Present and package bakery products attractively and with care.
• Create + package Click + Collect + Deliveroo orders.
• Monitor product displays and ensure they are well-stocked and visually appealing.
• Maintain a clean and tidy front of house area, including counters, tables, and seating areas.
• Follow all health and safety guidelines, ensuring a safe environment for customers and staff.
• Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning, and organising the workspace.
• Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth operations.
• Assist with food preparation, following our recipes and specifications meticulously to ensure consistent quality and taste.
• Operate coffee-making equipment such as espresso machines, and grinders to prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks to a high quality.
• Assist in the preparation of sandwich orders. Our customers can choose from our curated menu or build their own bagel from scratch, so attention to detail is essential. You'll be responsible for ensuring every bagel not only tastes amazing but looks visually impressive, each one should be a reflection of the care and craft we put into our food. With high levels of personalisation, accuracy and consistency are key, and your role will be vital in delivering an exceptional customer experience every time.

About You:

• You have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role
• Strong attention to detail and pride in consistent, high-quality work
• Willingness to learn and take direction
• Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
• Reliable, dependable and punctual with exceptional organisational skills
• Have the ability to follow all instructions given
• Have knowledge of basic food hygiene skills – training will be provided

About Us:

bagels + schmear is a lockdown success story Starting in 2020, with our founder Francesca baking New York-style bagels from her mother's kitchen after having the realisation that no one was doing bagels in the UK the 'proper New York way'. New York-style bagels are different to the bagels you find in the delis in and around London – they are crisp on the outside, pillowy and fluffy on the inside. Starting merely as a side hustle alongside her full-time job, she took bagels + schmear full time, opened up a bakery in Radlett, Hertfordshire + now supplies some of the most prestigious hotels, cafes, restaurants and shops in London.
