Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled and creative Senior Workplace Designer to join our growing London team. As a key leader within our Workplace Practice, you'll shape the future of workspace environments for high-profile clients across the UK. You'll bring extensive industry knowledge, a strong design portfolio, and proven leadership in delivering end-to-end workplace projects, from strategy through to execution. This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse, complex projects, mentor emerging talent, and play a major role in our business growth and reputation. We work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing on-site project requirements in London and client locations with off-site collaboration.
Role accountabilities:
- Lead and deliver multi-disciplinary workplace projects with a fee value from £500k
- Interpret client briefs and coordinate the design process from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with client expectations, Arcadis standards, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee project planning, resource allocation, and timely delivery, collaborating with internal teams and external consultants. · Coordinating project design, construction, and management with both internal and external stakeholders while ensuring quality control and project execution
- Ensure technical delivery, quality assurance, and commercial performance-driven design across all RIBA stages
- Prepare and present design solutions and project updates to clients and key stakeholders
- Manage project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle
- Assist in preparation of proposals & bid documents
- Business development to help support growth of the workplace team
- Workplace Strategy - analyse client needs, provide solutions, and implement alternative workplace strategies
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Interior Design, Architecture, or Design Management
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., BIID, RIBA, ARB, or similar) preferred
- 10+ years' experience with a strong record of leading workplace design projects in the UK
- Demonstrated experience across all RIBA Work Stages, with a deep understanding of workplace design principles and strategy
- Proficiency in Revit, CDE platforms, and knowledge of other industry-standard design software
- Experience delivering projects in a BIM environment
- Exceptional leadership, team management, and mentoring skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organisational, and time-management skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with proven capability in client presentations
- Accredited with or actively pursuing BREEAM, WELL, or equivalent sustainability credentials (advantageous)
