Job Description:

We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of a Care Worker on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £18.33- £24.40 per hour

Summary:

The Care Worker will deliver care and support to adults over the age of 18 in Islington with a range of needs, including learning disability, physical and sensory needs, mental health, and older people. The services are delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The role focuses on delivering care and support in an enabling, strengths-based, and person-centred way to maximise independence and build on the individual's strengths.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering care and support to people in accordance with their personalised support plans
  • Carrying out care and support that may include personal care tasks, domestic tasks, and acquiring independent living skills
  • Providing support with medication as detailed in the support plan and in accordance with the Services Medication Policy (This is termed 'medicines support').
  • Ensuring all work is recorded accurately and in a timely manner, using information technology systems.
  • Reporting any safeguarding concerns immediately to the Duty Manager in line with Council policy
  • Ensuring the Care Act 2014 is implemented in all aspects of the role

Essentials:

  • Level 2 NVQ or QCF Level 3
  • Willingness to undertake specialist training in line with the service's needs (e.g., autism/dementia/sensory awareness).
  • Experience of working with adults with complex needs and behaviours that may challenge within a learning disability setting
  • Experience of working with people with differing needs and from black and minority ethnic communities in inner city areas
  • Awareness and understanding of safeguarding including legislative responsibilities and Making Safeguarding Personal.
  • Awareness of health and social care legislation including the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2007
