The Company

An established, privately owned, specialist construction contracting business operating in a high margin niche. Current turnover is over £150m with a pipeline of work, with existing customers, which offers realistic potential to significantly increase this. Most current projects are in the UK and US (via a local partner). Future projects will include European based developments.

The Role

This is a board role with key responsibilities which include:

  • Leading the financial team and being responsible for all aspects of financial management, reporting, audit and compliance.
  • Being a key member of the board and fully involved in the strategic planning, budgets and financial reports.
  • Taking a lead role in any corporate activity of company acquisitions/disposals/ restructuring.
  • Acting as the focal point in liaising with banks, auditors and insurers.
  • Board responsibility for the commercial team including overseeing major bids and contractual agreements.
  • Oversee the company secretarial function.

The Person

The experience and skills we are looking for include:

  • Possess a chartered qualification – ICAEW/ACCA/CIMA.
  • The board and management is a close knit team and whoever joins will need to embrace the style and culture which means being a 'team player' with a flexible, positive 'one team' approach.
  • Previous experience leading the finance function in a construction contracting business.
  • Extensive international experience, ideally in setting up in new locations and possess the knowledge and contacts to be confident establishing new corporate entities.
  • Experience of corporate transactions – acquisitions, disposals, restructures and similar work.
  • UK based, willing to travel as required including international travel.
  • Eligible to work in the UK without visa sponsorship

The business is poised for international expansion and it is important to stress that this will not be a "steady state" position. The prospects for growth are very real and with it the opportunity for reward.

The role will be office based in Gloucestershire and so you should be based in the locality or willing to relocate.
