Our class sizes are small with no more than 6 students at any one time. Learning is personalised and our maximum staff to student ratio is 1:3.
You will likely be a Key Worker, with responsibility for up to four students, helping to create connections with families to improve their quality of life. You will benefit from a good level of resilience, team working skills and the ability to adapt quickly, as well as a good sense of humour. We have a child-centred, restorative approach and expect all staff to develop a good understanding of the students' needs in order to meet them at their point of understanding and enable them to make consistent progress towards their outcomes.
We currently have 34 students on roll. All students must have an EHCP to attend and all students have social, emotional or mental health challenges. We currently work with four different local authorities and we offer a wide range of curriculum subjects along with life skills and independent living courses and a variety of other opportunities for our students.
Candidates must hold qualifications in Maths and English at GCSE level (Grade C+/Grade 4+) or equivalent as a minimum and be able to demonstrate good communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Some experience of working with young people in an education setting would also be beneficial, although full induction and training will be given.
Teaching Assistants' working hours are 8:45am-2:45pm daily in term time, plus additional hours of directed training time, some of which may be up to 4pm.
