Tube Laser Programmer/Operator

MSM Fabrications Ltd – Nelson

MSM Fabrications Ltd are looking for an experienced Tube Laser Programmer/Operator to join our growing team in Nelson. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong laser machining skills to work with high-quality equipment and a well-established fabrication company.

About the Role

You will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating our MAZAK tube laser, ensuring efficient, accurate, and high-quality production. The role involves creating nests, preparing cutting programs, and maintaining smooth workflow from design to finished component.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program and operate a MAZAK tube laser to produce a variety of components.
  • Use CAD/CAM or laser-specific software to nest and program jobs efficiently.
  • Review drawings, materials, and job specifications to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform machine setup, monitoring, and basic maintenance.
  • Work closely with the production team to meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot issues and optimise cutting processes.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Proven experience running laser cutting machinery (tube laser preferred).
  • Confident using software to prepare nests and create cutting programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience with MAZAK laser systems is highly desirable although training will be given to the successful applicant.
