National Grid is hiring a Senior Power Systems Engineer - This position is based from our Warwick office.

Job Purpose

As a key player in our ET SCADA team, you will be at the forefront of innovation in Power System Modelling and Real-Time Analysis. Your expertise will drive our strategic objectives, making a tangible impact on the future of energy management.

You will stay ahead of the curve by continuously updating your technical knowledge on cutting-edge tools and techniques. Your role will involve crafting engaging training methods and enhancing the organisation of Power Network Modelling and Analysis, empowering your colleagues to excel.

What You'll Do
  • Responsible for all ET SCADA advanced Energy Management System applications
  • Stakeholder advanced applications lead.
  • Responsible for delivering the Power network model and Power Network Analysis (PNA) tools.
  • Responsible for build and test of the Training simulator base cases and convergence to the customer requirements.
  • Lead on Power system Analysis technical issues including the support of emergency changes.
  • Resolution of real time issues to ensure robust and reliable results, liaising with NGET teams & 3rd Parties.
  • Provide technical advice on PNA tools within the Control room and liaison with subject matter experts.
  • Support implementation of new asset types and changes to existing assets within the Analysis & Modelling team
  • Manage data validity checks and co-ordination of change activity with internal/external parties.
  • Lead on staff training and development including authorisation and assessment of team members.
  • Support the database and display team to resolve workload and scheduling conflicts.
  • Manage routine liaison with other parties such as CISO & OSI to ensure effective support.
  • Review processes to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Represent Network SCADA team and National Grid ET as technical SME in internal and external forums, including international Industry conferences and workshops.
  • Deputise for the System Manager in their absence.
About You
  • Expert user of DigSilent Power Factory or equivalent network analysis tools including calculation, data management and system interfaces.
  • Expert in power system operation, modelling and model management.
  • Working with technical documents and schematics/ electrical drawings
  • Electrical network & asset Model tuning and testing
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Policy and documentation review and creation
  • Experience of integrating change into routine business practices
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Development of internal and cross-functional processes and procedures
What You'll Get

A competitive salary between £67,000 – £87,000 dependent on capability

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
