Position Overview

Vantage is seeking an experienced and strategic regional Sustainability Director to lead Vantage's sustainability program in the EMEA region. As the regional subject matter expert, this leader partners closely with cross-functional teams to align global strategy with local priorities, guide the integration of sustainability into major development and operational decisions, and support key stakeholder engagement.

Reporting to the Vice President of Global Sustainability, the Director will shape and drive regional sustainability strategy that aligns and enables regional business strategy. The Director will work closely with the Global Sustainability Center of Excellence (COE) who serves to support and enable regional implementation of sustainability initiatives and stakeholder engagement.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Advise and partner with EMEA functional and regional executives to embed sustainability into business operations and drive transformational change.
  • Serve as the region's sustainability subject matter expert (SME), guiding cross-functional partners across site selection, design, construction, procurement, and operations.
  • Align with the Vice President of Global Sustainability to integrate global strategy with regional priorities and contribute regional insights to global strategic development.
  • Work with the Global Sustainability COE to set regional sustainability goals, develop roadmaps, and localize global initiatives to fit market conditions, regulation, customer needs, and community expectations.
  • Advise regional leadership on sustainability-related risks, including regulatory, climate, water, social responsibility, innovation, reputational, and greenwashing risks, and help shape mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate with Public Policy to shape and support policy frameworks aligned with the company's sustainability strategy across the region.
  • Support regional Public Policy and Communications in engaging communities, local government, and NGOs on environmental and social sustainability topics.
  • Represent Vantage's sustainability efforts in regional customer engagements, industry forums, and thought-leadership platforms.
  • Partner with Sales and Commercial teams to develop sustainability-related sales enablement materials and support customer RFP responses, audits, and strategic sustainability discussions.
  • Proactively engage external stakeholders—including customers, investors, suppliers, community partners, and industry groups—to advance sustainability objectives and strengthen Vantage's reputation.
  • Collaborate with the regional Sustainability Engineer to lead implementation of regional sustainability programs, performance improvement initiatives, and impact-reduction efforts.
  • Support sustainability risk and opportunity assessments for new market entry and expansion
  • Support development of regional and site-specific sustainability communication materials for customers, communities, and public stakeholders.
  • Support regional implementation of a sustainable supply chain engagement strategy
  • Support Global Sustainability COE with regional data collection and verify data quality for global sustainability reporting, disclosure, and assurance requirements.
  • Lead sustainability training, capability-building efforts, and awareness initiatives across regional teams with support from the Global Sustainability COE.

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate sustainability, environmental strategy, ESG, or related fields, with demonstrated impact in complex, multinational organizations;
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Sustainability, Data Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in the data center, energy, infrastructure, or technology sector, particularly with large-scale development projects.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional initiatives across technical and non-technical teams, including engineering, construction, operations, procurement, commercial, and public policy.
  • Experience integrating sustainability into large capital projects (infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, real estate, or data centers).
  • Experience engaging directly with customers on sustainability topics (e.g., RFP responses, audits, strategic sustainability discussions).
  • Ability to interpret sustainability data, regulatory requirements, and market trends to inform decisions.
  • Demonstrated program and project management experience, including designing and delivering sustainability initiatives at scale.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
