Head of Business Development – Technology & Transformation Consultancy

A leading consultancy specialising in digital, technology, and business transformation is seeking a strategic and commercially driven Head of Business Development to join its senior leadership team. This is a pivotal role for an experienced sales leader with a strong background in technology consultancy and a passion for driving growth through outcome-focused solutions.
About the Role
You will be responsible for shaping and executing the company's sales strategy, leading business development and marketing teams, and building long-term client relationships across both public and private sectors. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires a balance of strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and consultative selling.
You'll work closely with presales and delivery teams to ensure solutions are commercially viable and aligned with client needs, while also identifying new market opportunities and expanding the company's presence across sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and implement the company's sales strategy in line with growth objectives.
- Manage and develop business development and marketing teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across target industries.
- Drive new business acquisition and expand revenue from existing accounts.
- Balance public and private sector business development efforts.
- Collaborate with presales and delivery teams to shape client solutions.
- Identify opportunities in new sectors and markets.
- Report on pipeline, forecasts, and performance to the Board.
- Represent the company at industry events and networking forums.
- Champion outcome-based, consultative selling approaches.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven track record in technology consultancy sales leadership.
- Experience selling into both enterprise private sector clients and public sector organisations.
- Strong professional network across relevant industries.
- Demonstrable success in developing and executing growth strategies.
- Excellent leadership and team development skills.
- Commercially astute with experience managing P&L and complex negotiations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Understanding of digital transformation and agile delivery models.

- Experience scaling a business and sales function.
- Sector expertise and thought leadership presence (e.g., speaking engagements, panels).
- Familiarity with public sector procurement frameworks and tendering processes.
