Planning Manager – Major Applications

North West London

I'm working with a residential developer in the capital to appoint a Planning Manager to focus on the delivery of major residential planning applications across the London and the South.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a well-funded organisation specialising in bringing forward large-scale residential schemes from concept through to consent. The business works collaboratively with local authorities, landowners, and stakeholders to secure high-quality planning outcomes and deliver new communities across the region.

The Role

Working as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, the Planning Manager will take the lead on preparing, managing, and delivering major residential planning applications across a significant portfolio of sites.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the preparation, submission, and management of major residential planning applications (outline, hybrid, and full).
  • Coordinating and managing multi-disciplinary consultant teams to ensure timely and robust submission packages.
  • Providing planning input into land acquisition, design development, and project strategy.
  • Preparing and managing appeals when necessary.
  • Building strong relationships with local authorities, stakeholders, and partners to support smooth project delivery.
  • Supporting senior management in developing planning strategies for large-scale residential sites.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience running major planning applications, ideally for large-scale or complex schemes.
  • Background in development, land promotion, or planning consultancy.
  • RTPI or RICS (Planning & Development) qualified (or working toward qualification).
  • Proven ability to secure planning consents and navigate complex planning issues.
  • Excellent project management, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of planning risk and development potential.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple live applications.

Why Apply?

This role provides:

  • The opportunity to manage some of the most significant major residential applications in the UK.
  • A clear pathway for career progression toward senior leadership.
  • A collaborative, professional culture focused on quality and long-term value creation.
  • Competitive salary, bonus, car allowance, private healthcare, pension, and life assurance.

If you're a planning professional looking to step up into a role focused on delivering major schemes within a supportive and forward-thinking business, I'd welcome a confidential conversation.
