JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: DISTRIBUTION OPERATIVE / TRAINEE LGV DRIVER

DEPARTMENT: WAREHOUSE

REPORTS TO: DISTRIBUTION SUPERVISOR

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To work within the Warehouse Team to ensure efficient, safe and accurate handling of all stock and delivery of a high quality service to all of our customers.

To train to become a LGV Driver who is responsible for the safe transportation of goods between all Original Style sites and, on occasions, local customer deliveries.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Distribution Operative:

· Assisting with the loading and unloading of vehicles using manual handling techniques.

· Moving and storing products in the correct warehouse area.

· Processing, picking and packing orders in a timely manner; working to targets.

· Ensuring all products are free from damage and reporting any discrepancies.

· Using our computer systems to upkeep necessary records and reports.

· Cleaning and maintaining warehouse equipment to set standards.

· Moving pallets using a forklift truck (training provided if necessary).

· Assist with regular and spot stocktakes as and when required.

Trainee LGV Driver

• Ensuring goods are safely secured.
• Loading and unloading the vehicle.
• Taking the quickest route to your destination.
• Drive within the tachograph law and driver hours limits.
• Look after the vehicle and ensure that it is not subjected to unnecessary damage.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the driving cab.
• Report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the company's accident reporting procedure.
• Complete vehicle daily inspection sheet and give to Warehouse Manager.
• Be aware of the vehicle inspection rota for servicing and MOT and bring to the Warehouse Managers attention if necessary.
• Attend essential training in order to carry out the driver role.
• To provide support in the Yard as required by the Distribution Supervisor.

• Endorse and promote a positive and conscious health and safety culture within the Company. Ensure always take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety, quality and human resource policies and procedures of Original Style.

These are the main functions of the job but the incumbent may be required to carry out other duties as may be reasonably required to meet the demands of the business.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

To succeed in this role the person needs to:

· Possess a good standard of numeracy and literacy;

· Have a good understanding of product knowledge;

· Be willing to train to become a LGV Driver.

· Have the ability to work alone.

· Demonstrate good understanding of, and commitment to, safe working practices.

· Possess a positive attitude and high energy.

· Work well under pressure.

· Have a strong team spirit.
