The Role

As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll take ownership of complex projects, guiding technical output while coaching and supporting junior team members. You'll be a key part of ensuring designs are safe, compliant, and deliverable, while driving improvements and value engineering across the team.

Responsibilities of the Senior Design Engineer:

  • Lead the production of high-quality electrical designs in line with industry standards and client requirements
  • Apply, share, and train others on ENA, DNO & IDNO G81 design standards
  • Authorise design checks and project spends within your delegated limits
  • Support and coach junior engineers, providing guidance in client meetings and project delivery
  • Promote value engineering and efficient ways of working across the team
  • Ensure all designs are buildable, compliant, and aligned with project budgets and financials
  • Keep up to date with industry changes and maintain NERS-accredited standards

Criteria for the Senior Design Engineer:

  • HND or degree in an electrical discipline
  • Extensive experience in 11kV & LV design and earthing across multiple DNO regions
  • Proven track record in authorising design checks
  • Strong practical knowledge of electrical installations
  • Excellent communication skills with clients, project managers, and site teams
