Fabricator Welder

Alken Systems Ltd is seeking a Fabricator / Welder to join our established team. We are an ISO 9001:2015 accredited subcontract manufacturing business situated in Birch Vale, Derbyshire; with an excellent reputation for quality, service, and on-time delivery.

Our specialities include Manual and CNC Turning, Vertical Boring, Manual and CNC Milling, Fitting/Assembly, Sheet Metal, Fabrication and Welding.

Main duties

• MIG and TIG welding of various ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• Using metal cutting and forming machinery and hand tools – Training will be provided.
• Training will be provided to enable you to manufacture bespoke fabrications from detailed engineering drawings, including welding and finishing to company procedures and coding's.
• Working with a small technical team during design review stage to establish manufacturing methods and techniques for new orders.
• You will be encouraged to be a team player and provide feedback on problem solving and suggestions on improvements for manufacture.

Person Specification

• Time Served in a recognised training program.
• Experience of welding and fabricating of some thicknesses within the range of 2mm to 10mm in Mild Steel and Stainless Steel.
• Proficiency in the use of TIG and/or MIG.
• Have a good fabrication knowledge with understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.
• Have an excellent attention to detail, and a flexible attitude towards problem solving and the continuous improvement of manufacturing methods.
• Have a pleasant and positive manner, take pride in your work, and enjoy working to high standards of accuracy and surface finish.
