Designer (Brand & Packaging)
A fast-growing premium spirits specialist is looking for a talented Brand & Packaging Designer to join its creative team in Edinburgh. This is an exceptional opportunity to work on high-end, bespoke spirits projects spanning single-cask Scotch whisky, premium rum, cognac and custom bottlings for clients around the world.
Working at the intersection of craftsmanship, luxury aesthetics and brand storytelling, you'll play a central role in shaping beautiful, production-ready designs that elevate premium drinks brands and deliver unforgettable consumer experiences.
The Role
As a key member of the creative and branding function, you will help bring new product concepts to life through impactful design, packaging, visual identity development and client-facing creative assets.
You will work across a diverse range of projects, from label creation and bespoke bottle packaging to brand identity systems and digital deliverables. Your work will directly influence how premium spirits are perceived, experienced and enjoyed internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end creative development for new product launches, including bottle labels, packaging, outer boxes, point-of-sale materials and digital assets
- Build and refine brand identity systems for private-label clients and in-house spirit ranges: typography, colour palettes, graphic language and imagery treatment
- Collaborate closely with sales, operations, bottling and logistics teams to ensure creative work aligns with production, regulatory and supply-chain requirements
- Liaise with print suppliers, packaging engineers and external partners to ensure designs are production-ready, cost-effective and delivered to a premium standard
- Maintain consistency of brand tone, visual direction and execution across all touchpoints
- Stay ahead of design trends in premium spirits, luxury goods, packaging innovation and sustainable materials
- Manage multiple briefs simultaneously, keeping timelines, milestones and client expectations on track
- Contribute creative thinking to client presentations, concept workshops and internal design reviews
- Support asset organisation including version control, production files and archiving past campaigns
Required Skills & Experience
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, Branding or related discipline
- 2–5+ years of experience in brand or packaging design, ideally within FMCG, luxury goods or spirits/food/medical sectors
- A strong portfolio showcasing packaging, branded design work and ideally premium bottle or box design
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
- Confidence working with packaging dyelines, print production, pre-press and specialist finishing techniques
- Strong visual craft: excellent typography, layout, colour and composition, with an eye for premium detail
- Clear and persuasive communication skills, with the ability to present concepts to internal teams and clients
- Strong organisational and project-management ability, capable of juggling multiple deadlines
- A collaborative mindset, comfortable working with cross-functional teams and external suppliers
- Genuine interest in spirits and premium drinks is a strong plus, as is familiarity with the drinks industry
- Proactive, flexible and responsive to feedback with the ability to iterate quickly
Desirable Extras
- Experience designing for luxury or premium beverage brands
- Awareness of sustainability trends in packaging and eagerness to explore innovative materials and low-waste solutions
- Experience working on global or export markets and collaborating across international teams
