On top of all this, and the reason we're looking for a new payroll team member is, we are expanding our products and mission further into the EU in 2025 and beyond. We are looking for a brilliant payroll associate with EU payroll experience to join our current payroll team to enhance and scale our current EU payroll processes safely.

☆ Our People Collective

The payroll associate works in partnership with others in the People collective to ensure our Monzonauts are paid accurately and on time. They also support the wider payroll team, other People Collective teams and managers in understanding the complexities requirements of EU payroll legislation to create a delightful payroll experience at every point in the Monzonaut lifecycle.

Our Payroll team

You will be part of a 4 person team and will co-ordinate our current payrolls in Ireland, Spain, France, Italy, Netherlands, Germany and Portugal as well as new payrolls we set up in other EU countries.

You'll play a key role by...
  • Working with our broader Tax, Legal and People teams to launch new payrolls around the EU, ensuring we bring to life the value of growing safely and in control.
  • Compiling and reconciling our monthly EU payrolls in line with our payroll calendar and processes
  • Answering general payroll queries for our EU-based Monzonauts in a delightful and accessible way
  • Monitor our payroll processes to make sure we minimise errors and provide technical expertise on how to consistently improve our payroll process
  • Act as the first point of contact between Monzo and our EU payroll providers to ensure we are receiving a gold-standard level of service
  • Work closely with our POps and wider People Collective teams to provide the best possible Monzonaut experience through accurate and timely data submissions

  • Empathetic and passionate about delivering a great Monzonaut experience through accurate and timely pay
  • Open, adaptable and someone who embraces change, we're a very fast growing business
  • Great at communication as frontline for payroll queries and contact for external payroll providers
  • Dedicated to getting it right for our Monzonauts and will have a keen eye for detail and the ability to spot and correct mistakes and prioritise well
  • Comfortable working with others in the people collective and is always willing to provide help and support
  • Knowledgeable about payroll process and procedure
  • Able to work with a high level of ambiguity
We'd love to hear from you if...
  • You have experience of end to end payroll processes from data input to data reconciliation and reporting in Spain or Italy as a minimum
  • You have knowledge of legislation and best practice either through professional qualifications or through lived experience.
  • You have the ability to work to a high level of accuracy, autonomy and demonstrate attention to detail.
  • You are highly organised with the ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise appropriately.
  • You have experience in setting up new payrolls and benefits

This role can be based in London or remote within the UK with adhoc visits to the London office.
