OverviewPlease double check you have the right level of experience and qualifications by reading the full overview of this opportunity below.We are looking for a solicitor at NQ - 5 years PQE level to join our expanding civil liberties team. The role will involve running your own caseload of actions against the police and public bodies for matters including unlawful arrest, false imprisonment, human rights breaches, malicious prosecution, misfeasance in public office and judicial reviews. The role will require a strong litigation background, as you will be dealing with predominantly multi-track work and civil jury trials.ResponsibilitiesManaging a caseload of actions against the police claims from cradle to graveConducting thorough legal research and providing sound legal advice to clientsPreparing and drafting legal documents, including pleadings and witness statementsNegotiating settlements and representing clients in court when necessaryWorking in a target driven, fast paced environmentCollaborating with colleagues to ensure the successful outcome of cases.Keeping up to date with changes in relevant laws and regulationsPerson SpecificationYou must be a practicing solicitorAt least 3 years of experience of dealing with your own case load of Part 7 litigation workExceptional client care and quality control skills.Excellent knowledge of the CPR and pre-action disclosure procedureExperienced in multi-track work preferred but not essentialExperienced in running cases to trial with CounselAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to conduct own researchExperienced in using case management systems such as ProclaimExcellent IT skillsRe-train positions are also offered for a solicitor with a strong civil litigation background of at least 2 years.
