Job DescriptionApplying for this role is straight forward Scroll down and click on Apply to be considered for this position.The position is a mid‑level lawyer role within Versant International’s Legal Team based in London, Belfast and Singapore. The role works closely with the Chief International Counsel, International and supports the Versant News and Sports businesses – including CNBC, MSNBC and GolfNow – across a broad range of legal matters.OverviewVersant intends to acquire most of NBCUniversal’s cable television networks and complementary digital assets. The newly formed company will maintain a lead position in news, sports and entertainment content and will be expanding its global presence in 2025.Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial MattersDraft, review and negotiate vendor, event, supplier and licensing contracts; assist senior counsel with advertising and sponsorship agreements and prepare linear carriage deals for CNBC International across EMEA.Business DevelopmentSupport the CNBC commercial team with renewals of existing brand partnerships (e.g. CNBC Africa, CNBC Italy) and draft and negotiate new partnership agreements; develop outbound content licensing agreements.EditorialProvide editorial support to the senior counsel on international matters; advise CNBC and MSNBC newsrooms on fair use, copyright and third‑party rights; demonstrate solid understanding of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act and Ofcom Broadcasting Code requirements.Data PrivacyMaintain a basic understanding of GDPR and other privacy laws; liaise with the Chief Privacy Officer team and communicate advice to internal stakeholders.ComplianceAdvise on compliance with laws such as FCPA, FARA and competition law; implement internal policies, provide training and liaise with the Compliance team as required.Third‑Party Representative ManagementOversee the appointment and management of third‑party representatives, ensuring compliance requirements are met.Company SecretarialAssist with corporate secretarial needs of local entities as requested.General AdviceDeliver prompt, accurate and practical legal and commercial counsel to business teams.QualificationsQualified lawyer with at least three years post‑qualification experience in an international law firm (UK, Europe or US) or in‑house counsel at a broadcast/media company.Good contractual experience and solid understanding of boilerplate clauses in commercial agreements.Experience with applicable compliance and regulatory regimes.First‑class drafting skills with a methodical and detail‑oriented approach.Excellent oral and written English communication skills.Strong time‑management, client‑servicing and problem‑solving abilities.Ability to work independently, multitask, prioritise and thrive under pressure.Can‑do attitude and passion for the role.Team player with strong interpersonal skills.Additional InformationAs part of the selection process, external candidates may be required to attend an in‑person interview with an NBCUniversal employee at one of our locations prior to a hiring decision.NBCUniversal’s policy is to provide equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees without regard to race, colour, religion, creed, gender, gender identity or expression, age, national origin or ancestry, citizenship, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy, veteran status, membership in the uniformed services, genetic information or any other basis protected by applicable law.
