We reimagine the possible across the nuclear industry every day.As a Head of Quality – Major Projects you will responsible for setting and driving the quality strategy across a portfolio of major growth projects at the Springfields nuclear site. This role ensures that all quality-related activities are aligned with the SSI 486P Major Projects Delivery Lifecycle and the overarching Quality Policy, Strategy, and Manual. The Head of Quality will lead a team of quality professionals and work collaboratively with Programme Managers, engineering, construction, and regulatory stakeholders to embed a robust quality culture and deliver assurance across all phases of project execution.You will be report to Programme Director. The role offers flexible working with attendance on site at Springfields a minimum of two days per week to partner with team members and management.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic LeadershipDefine and implement the quality strategy for major projects, ensuring alignment with programme objectives and regulatory requirements.Act as the senior point of contact for quality matters across all major project packages, providing strategic guidance and oversight.Champion a quality culture across the delivery organisation and supply chain.Quality Management SystemsOversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of project-specific Quality Management Systems (QMS).Ensure systems are compliant with nuclear safety standards, contractual obligations, and stakeholder expectations.Assurance and GovernanceLead the development and execution of risk-based assurance programmes, including audits, inspections, and performance reviews.Provide independent assurance to senior leadership on the effectiveness of quality controls and delivery performance.Escalate significant quality risks and issues to the EPC Director and relevant governance forums.Project Delivery SupportEnsure quality requirements are embedded in project planning, procurement, and execution phases.Support the development and review of quality plans, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and supplier quality documentation.Provide oversight of quality performance across contractors and sub-contractors, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.Investigation and Continuous ImprovementLead investigations into significant quality events and non-conformances, ensuring robust root cause analysis and corrective actions.Monitor and report on quality KPIs, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.Drive initiatives to enhance delivery efficiency and reduce rework or quality-related delays.Team Leadership and CapabilityBuild and maintain a quality team, ensuring appropriate SQEP levels and professional development.Lead recruitment, training, and succession planning to support long-term capability needs.Foster collaboration across disciplines and promote knowledge sharing.Authorities & DimensionsApproval of quality strategies, plans, and supply chain submissions.Authority to certify products and verify goods and services.Approval of project quality budgets and performance indicators.Escalation of quality risks to executive leadership and regulatory bodies.QualificationsDegree (min 2 : 2) in a relevant STEM subject, or an equivalent level of qualification and experience.CQI DiplomaMember of CQI or other relevant professional body.You have 10-15 years Quality management experience within a regulated industry environment.Extensive experience in quality leadership within complex EPC or nuclear projects.Strong understanding of nuclear safety, regulatory frameworks, and quality assurance principles.Proven ability to lead teams and influence senior stakeholders.Chartered or professionally accredited in a relevant discipline (, CQI, engineering, project management).Why Westinghouse?We know that to put forth your best effort, you need to be challenged and enjoy what you do in a supportive and respectful environment.
