You will work collaboratively with a range of technical specialists on a broad range of projects, lead and coordinate topic‑specific input to Environmental Impact Assessments and related deliverables, work closely with clients, develop new areas of business and mentor others in the team.Role accountabilitiesYou’ll be instrumental in improving the understanding and sustainable management of soils and the impacts of land use change for a diverse range of projects including large scale energy and infrastructure projects, mixed‑use development schemes, public realm and master‑planning projects. You will play a key role in the successful delivery of major multidisciplinary development projects.Lead the coordination and delivery of soil and land use assessments as part of Environmental Impact Assessments of a wide range of projectsCoordinate and lead soil and Agricultural Land Classification surveysUndertake your own work to an excellent standard, and review the work of othersWork in partnership with Soils Team, Impact Assessment Team and related discipline teams across the UKProactively manage selected projects or components of projects, taking responsibility for resource allocation, managing subcontractors and ensuring quality assuranceLead and support tender proposals and bids as part of a project winning teamProvide soils and land use advice and support to clients, project managers and colleaguesEngage with consultees and stakeholdersDevelop outstanding reports – summarise and explain outcomes to non‑technical audiencesManage projects, oversee performance on technical, quality, commercial and health and safety aspectsQualifications & ExperienceExperienced soil consultant/scientist with experience of Environmental Impact Assessment, preferably within a consultancy environment or with experience of multi‑disciplinary working and broad sector experience.Experience of soil surveying, ideally including knowledge and experience of the Agricultural Land Classification system.Member of the British Society of Soil Science and Chartered/working towards chartership with an accredited Institution.Good knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment and the planning process in relation to soils and land use.Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality.Experience in multi‑disciplinary working, with strong project management and technical skills.Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators and stakeholders.Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management and quality assurance.A valid UK driving license.Desired: Knowledge and application experience of carbon accounting in relation to soils and land use.Why Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
