The role sits within WPP’s Business Integrity team (part of WPP’s Legal function) and reports to the WPP General Counsel Corporate Risk, based in London, who in turn reports to the WPP Group Chief Counsel.What you’ll be doingThis role provides global coverage for an individual devoted to law, regulation, risk, compliance, and ethics. Key responsibilities include:Advising and supporting WPP companies on day-to-day legal risk and regulatory queries and requests.Providing guidance on and managing governance and regulatory matters related to compliance, ethics, and legal risk elements of employee affairs.Ensuring effective and efficient policies and procedures are in place, understood, and respected by all employees, and that WPP’s resources, systems, and processes align with these policies and regulatory requirements.Identifying and analysing current and emerging legal and regulatory risk issues across WPP, investigating policy breaches and violations of applicable external laws, regulations, and codes, and devising and implementing mitigation and remediation actions.Driving global risk management strategy, including through WPP’s risk committee structure, and cultivating a robust resilience culture.Collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders across WPP to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks and uncertainties.Ensuring WPP’s risk appetite, governance requirements, and applicable regulator expectations are understood and respected by WPP staff.Advising and guiding WPP staff on a range of risk matters with a focus on business integrity topics, including compliance, ethics, respect in the workplace, anti-bribery & corruption, and gifts & hospitality.Developing and maintaining precedents, best practices, and data sets that comply with company policies and local law, for use across WPP.Managing external law firms and other professional advisors.What you’ll needDemonstrated ability to independently identify and solve complex issues, delivering results with robust technical knowledge and strong written and verbal communication skills in a challenging and sometimes unpredictable commercial environment.A track record of building trust and strong partnerships with stakeholders at all levels, particularly on sensitive and confidential matters.Ability to effectively manage and prioritise a varied workload to achieve positive outcomes.Significant experience as a legal professional, typically gained over several years in a relevant field.A strong ethical compass and passion for integrity in your work.Persuasive and able to drive positive change.Who you areYou’re open: We are inclusive and collaborative; we encourage the free exchange of ideas; we respect and celebrate diverse views.
