Our primary goal is to become a trusted friend to our clients—someone they can always rely on, who will go the extra mile when it matters most.Role DescriptionAs a Family Law Solicitor at Miller Samuel Hill Brown, you will manage a diverse and complex caseload, including:Separation and divorceCohabitationChild lawAdoptionSurrogacyComplex financial provisionPre- and post-nuptial contractsWe undertake complex litigation when required but actively support alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation, FLAGS arbitration, and collaborative law. This position allows you to work closely with experienced senior team members on intricate legal matters while maintaining meaningful interactions with a wide array of clients.Key ResponsibilitiesIndependently manage a broad family law caseload.Provide strategic legal advice across all areas of family law.Represent clients in the Sheriff Court and Court of Session.Draft and negotiate legally binding agreements.Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients.Supervise and mentor junior team members.Collaborate with internal departments for cross-referrals.Engage in business development through writing, presenting, and networking.Ensure compliance with regulatory and firm procedures.Handle child-related matters, including residence, contact, and relocation cases.Conduct advocacy and draft pleadings in court proceedings.About YouQualified solicitor with a minimum of 2 – 3 years of relevant PQE in family lawExperience in Court of Session litigation.Proven track record of independently managing a caseload.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.A commercially minded and solution-focused approach to legal advice.A friendly team player with an approachable attitude, eager to embrace new challenges.Why Choose Miller Samuel Hill Brown?We pride ourselves on earning our clients' trust through expert and tailored advice that makes a real difference.
