You will work collaboratively with a range of technical specialists on a broad range of projects, lead and coordinate Environmental Impact Assessments and related deliverables, work closely with clients, develop new areas of business and mentor others in the team.As part of our Environmental team, you’ll help improve quality of life. With your specialism in environmental management, or your technical or sustainability expertise, your work could involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise. And in some of the world’s busiest and most beautiful locations.We work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. Around the world, we’re feeling the effects of climate change, rapid urbanization, loss of biodiversity. The rate at which we’re seeing large‐scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires is becoming more frequent.Job DetailsSeniority level: Mid‑Senior levelEmployment type: Full‑timeJob function: OtherIndustries: Professional ServicesRole accountabilitiesLeading on the coordination and delivery of environmental work being undertaken by multi‑disciplinary teams, influencing project development, and delivering optimal environmental outcomesUndertaking your own work to an excellent standard, and reviewing the work of othersWorking in partnership with other members of the Impact Assessment Team across the UKProactively managing selected projects or components of projects, taking responsibility for resource allocation, managing subcontractors and quality assuranceLead and support tender proposals/bids – working as part of a project winning teamProviding environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleaguesEngaging with consultees and stakeholdersDeveloping outstanding reports – an ability to summarise and explain outcomes to non‑technical audiences will be critical for thisManaging projects, overseeing our performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safetyQualifications & ExperienceGood knowledge of EIA practices and procedures and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles and environmental technical specialismsExperience across a range of project types, ideally within the energy, residential/mixed‑use/regeneration sector, as well as in other major infrastructure projects including rail/highwaysProven experience of managing and coordinating EIA screening and scoping activities and Environmental Statements including the technical review of specialist chaptersPractical working knowledge of the UK planning system and consenting processStrong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure qualityExperience in multi‑disciplinary co‑ordination and leadership of projects, with good project management and technical skillsExperience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators and stakeholdersThe ability to work as part of an established team, supervising members of staff as applicableCommercial expertise, including forecasting, project management and quality assuranceRelevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards itA valid UK driving licenceDesired: Experience in the delivery of SEA and/or Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) projectsDesired: Knowledge and application experience of sustainability, waste or carbon assessmentsWhy Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
