Our teams of experts have modelled, designed and delivered flood resilience schemes around the world and worked on award winning schemes such as the Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme and the Avonmouth & Severnside Economic Area Ecological Mitigation and Flood Defence Project. We deliver Flood Risk Assessments for new developments and are industry leading in delivering Nature Based Solutions for flood risk management. You will have control of your own career path, which we will support through mentoring and training, but above all by giving you the opportunities to face new challenges and take more responsibilities.Examples Of Your Contributions AreUndertaking and checking economic appraisals to assist the design of Flood Alleviation Schemes, deliver Flood Risk Assessments and conduct reservoir flood studiesPreparing business cases to secure funding for Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Grant in AidConceptualisation and scoping of hydraulic modelling approachesProducing and checking high quality reports for clientsMentoring/training junior staff in the overall process of helping clients manage and adapt to flooding, from scoping to delivery, helping them to see the bigger picture, and providing guidance in identifying opportunities and risks in programme, consenting, construction and maintenanceAlongside your technical role, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in project management and lead business development through engaging with our clients.We are looking for someone with great team spirit to become an integral part of our Flood Risk Team and work alongside our wider Water Resources and Rivers and Catchment sub‑sectors, which brings together a wealth of knowledge and experience in engineering, hydrology, hydrogeology, water quality, catchment management, climate resilience and associated disciplines.Candidate specificationEssentialExperience in delivering flood risk management studies including undertaking option appraisals in compliance with English Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Appraisal GuidanceExperience preparing business casesDegree level qualification in hydrology, geography, economics, mathematics, civil engineering, or other related disciplineGood communication and written skillsWell organised and able to prioritise your own workload with minimal supervisionUnderstand the importance of prioritising health, safety and environmental issuesDesirableChartered or Incorporated with an appropriate professional body (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, IMA)Project management experienceEngineering design experienceProfessional consultancy experience in flood risk managementIf you meet 80% or more of what we’re looking for, please still apply.
