Senior/ Principal Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with strong knowledge of industrial plant and machinery in both HV and LV environments. The role will involve working as part of a multi‑disciplinary engineering team, providing technical expertise and input across a range of electrical engineering projects in a high‑hazard industry.Duties and responsibilitiesAuthoring, developing, assessing, maintaining and managing electrical design documentationManaging design changes and concessionsProducing and developing Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) schedules, operating procedures and results to satisfy design requirements and safety case requirementsProducing and assessing technical reports and periodic safety reviewsProviding advice and direction to internal and external stakeholdersReviewing technical reports and safety case submissions from external contractorsChecking and reviewing calculations and technical documents prepared by other engineersApplying theoretical and practical engineering methods to design, develop, commission, operate, maintain and decommission electrical systems in high‑risk environmentsProducing robust technical justifications to support electrical design modificationQualifications & experienceExperienced Electrical Engineer with knowledge of industrial plant and machinery in HV and LV environments (e.g. pumps, generators, lightning protection, control systems)Knowledge of current design standards and working practices including British & European StandardsExperience across concept design, detailed design and construction stages of electrical engineering projects (ideally including industrial and/or maritime)Experience in design assessment of electrical plant and equipment to withstand hazardsProven ability to author and produce robust technical justification and supporting documentation for electrical design modifications in high hazard industriesExperience working on multi‑discipline projects providing engineering inputFamiliarity with safety case development techniques (e.g. HAZID/HAZOP studies)Experience of working in the UK nuclear industry (energy or defence), particularly in the design and assessment of safety related structures, systems and componentsKnowledge of UK and US nuclear industry regulation and practice, and application of relevant nuclear‑specific codes and standardIt’s great if you also have the followingEssentialMinimum HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant disciplineIncorporated Engineer status or equivalent experienceFor candidates without a nuclear background, a nuclear introductory course will be required within 6 months of joiningDesirableEngineering degreeChartered Engineer statusEqual opportunitiesMillbank Holdings Ltd is an equal opportunities employer committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workforce.
