OverviewTalan UK & Ireland’s Energy Consulting team works across the low carbon market, including Smart Energy, heat pumps, energy efficiency/retrofit, heat networks and hydrogen. The role is to grow our Smart Energy consulting practice by developing and delivering best-in-class solutions through consulting assignments, while supporting business development and client relationships.While professional experience and qualifications are key for this role, make sure to check you have the preferable soft skills before applying if required.We are a part of the Talan Group, offering global technology and consulting expertise that accelerates transformation through innovation, technology and data. This role involves working with experts across the company to deploy Smart Energy service propositions and deliver value to clients in a changing energy landscape.ResponsibilitiesLeading the development and delivery of a Smart Energy Consulting practice within Talan UK & Ireland.Driving business development activities in the Smart Energy space and supporting a wider team of consultants on projects.Achieving year-on-year growth of consultancy sales through identifying opportunities, drafting proposals and converting sales, including upsell and repeat business.Upskilling and mentoring junior consultants, expanding the team’s delivery and business development capabilities.Networking and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders in the energy industry to strengthen Talan’s position as a knowledge leader.Participating in industry engagements, events and working groups to build and manage a Smart Energy network.Operating effectively within a matrix management structure, including line management and resource planning within the Business Unit.Managing resources and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver larger client projects in line with company strategy.Cross-selling other service propositions across Talan UK & Ireland and the Talan Group.QualificationsThe successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and experience:At least 4 years’ experience in a Smart Energy consulting setting with strong knowledge of smart metering.Experience leading business development via solution selling, building client relationships, qualifying opportunities, developing bids and pitching.Experience navigating the consulting delivery process, including managing client expectations, project management, quality assurance, risk management, and delivery in multi-stakeholder environments.Ability to mentor junior team members and upskill their technical and project management capabilities.Proven track record in management consulting, comfortable with ambiguity and problem-solving using tools and frameworks.Understanding of the GB commercial, regulatory and Smart Energy policy environment and how to leverage change within it.Experience building and managing client and stakeholder relationships, including internal and external stakeholders.Well-connected within the Smart Energy space with an up-to-date network of contacts and partners.Skills and QualitiesAbility to build a pipeline of Smart Energy opportunities and grow revenue year on year.Strong commercial awareness including proposal development and business prospecting, plus solid project management with risk management experience.Strong technical knowledge of smart metering and connected devices.Excellent networking skills and the ability to engage across teams to unlock partnerships.Ability to manage client expectations and delivery outcomes.Strong organizational and planning skills, with attention to detail under tight deadlines.Clear written and verbal communication and relationship management.Ability to analyse opportunities, risks and issues in a dynamic environment. xpwpeyx Flexibility and adaptability to changing industry demands.What we offer25 days annual leave, plus bank holidaysReward and recognition schemesFlexible workingPrivate Bupa healthcareLife Assurance (up to 4 times annual salary)Matched pension contributionsSeason Ticket LoanCycle to work schemeBuy and Sell annual leaveReimbursement of eye tests and up to £50 towards glasses or contactsCorporate gym ratesEmployee Assistance ProgrammeSummer and Christmas parties, along with monthly Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionConsultingIndustries: Software Development and IT Services and IT Consulting#J-18808-Ljbffr
