Experience with compliance work in other jurisdictions, particularly in the APAC region, is a plus. We value a demonstrated record of experience understanding the regulatory requirements and advising business teams in a forward‑looking and solution‑oriented manner.In this role, you will work closely with business and technology teams across Global Payments to identify legal risks, help create solutions, and collaborate on strategies to enable business success in this rapidly‑evolving regulatory environment. The position is part of a collegial team of attorneys and other privacy professionals that form the Global Payments Privacy Office.ResponsibilitiesAdvise business teams (including marketing, sales, IT, and operations) regarding compliance with privacy, AI, and related laws and work collaboratively with Privacy Office peers to provide advice for projects with both regional and global scopeAdvise on data protection terms in agreements including license, vendor, SaaS, technology, master services, confidentiality and other agreementsAdvise and provide guidance on product strategy, considering data protection laws, customer and partner relationships, consumer rights, third‑party rights and obligations, and business needsDraft privacy policies, notices, related disclosures, DISCLAIMERS, FAQs and communications to support and enable business unit compliancePerform privacy impact assessments, responsible AI assessments, and other governance tasks, and contribute to the maintenance of records of processing and the satisfaction of privacy‑by‑design and privacy‑by‑default requirementsAdvise sales and marketing teams on compliance implications of various marketing initiatives including online advertising, behavioral advertising, affiliate marketing, mobile applications, social networking, email, SMS/text, and other consumer‑facing communicationsWork closely with Information Security, Data Governance, Risk, and Audit teams to identify and mitigate data protection compliance risks including issue‑spotting and advising related to cybersecurity and data incidentsQualifications, Skills & ExperienceProfessional Qualifications:J. xpwpeyx D. degree or equivalent degree (such as a master in law) with strong academic performance3+ years experience practicing law in a relevant fieldLicensed to practice law in the US, UK, or a member state of the European UnionRequired Skills & Experience:Deep subject matter expertise with at least one major data privacy framework such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Gramm‑Leach‑Bliley Act (GLBA), or the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA)Experience interpreting regulatory guidance and drafting relevant privacy notices, policies, and proceduresExperience advising corporate clients regarding compliance mattersExperience negotiating and drafting contractsFlexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal mattersExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively with business partners across levels and show leadership on complex, high priority issuesDesired Skills & Experience:Experience in the payments industry or financial services industryAbility to engage in technical discussions with IT teams regarding ad tech, data anonymization, and security/access controls related to cloud computingCIPP/US and CIPP/E certificationGlobal Payments Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
