OverviewLearn more about the general tasks related to this opportunity below, as well as required skills.Join us as a Business Control Officer at Barclays, where you will assess the integrity and effectiveness of the bank's internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the bank's operational, financial, and reputational risk.This role will be based in London.Purpose of the roleTo assess the integrity and effectiveness of the bank's internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the bank's operational, financial, and reputational risk.AccountabilitiesKnowledge of business areas, products, processes and platforms to be able to assess riskCollaboration with various stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.Identification and investigation of potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the bank’s control framework, prioritised by its severity to disrupt bank operations.Development of reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.Execution of reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework aligned to established and evolving policies, regulation, and best practice.Implementation of adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and set appropriate methodology of assessing controls against the Controls Framework.Key Skills / QualificationsPrior experience within Markets, or within a first line of defence role directly aligned to Markets.Broad understanding of risk and controls and ability to demonstrate a risk management mindset.Solid understanding of the trade lifecycle and front-to-back flows.Identification and remediation of key controls including issue investigation, reporting and managing remediation.Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritise key deliverables.Ability to influence at senior management level and apply judgement to balance risk versus business/commercial interest whilst ensuring compliance to all relevant policies and standards.Business management / controls experience in Markets.Extensive working knowledge of operational risk & control processes and practices, including experience in their application across functions.Strong stakeholder management experience and the ability to influence others positively.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Confident to work with senior stakeholders, product and functional partners on a broad range of topics.A strong capacity to evaluate, understand, and clearly explain complex processes to all levels within Trading, Business Management, Finance, and Operations.You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.Barclays valuesAll colleagues will be expected to demonstrate the Barclays Values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship – our moral compass, helping us do what we believe is right. xpwpeyx They will also be expected to demonstrate the Barclays Mindset – to Empower, Challenge and Drive – the operating manual for how we behave.Senior detailsSeniority level: Mid-Senior levelEmployment type: Full-timeJob function: Management and ManufacturingIndustries: Banking and Financial Services#J-18808-Ljbffr
