Serendipity Institute for Black Arts and HeritageBefore applying for this role, please read the following information about this opportunity found below.Head of Education (Part-Time)Location: Leicester (office based and remote)Deadline: 28 November 2025Interview Date: 11 December 2025Serendipity Institute for Black Arts and Heritage seeks a part-time Head of Education to lead on Serendipity’s education and training programmes such as our newly validated MA Black British Dance and Performance.This unique role offers the opportunity to shape and guide a groundbreaking academic programme while contributing to the preservation and celebration of Black British dance heritage and culture.The ideal candidate will possess an MA or higher qualification, a deep passion for Black arts and heritage, substantial experience in academic leadership, and a commitment to the well‑being and pastoral care of students.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the delivery and oversight of the MA Black British Dance and Performance programme, consisting of six modules and a thesis, ensuring high academic standards, student engagement, and a rigorous learning environmentSupport and develop Serendipity’s training and education programmes, inclusive of Young Archivists, Black Dance Uncovered: Summer School and our resource packs for educatorsTo manage two in-person modules in Leicester and four online modules, creating an inclusive and dynamic learning experience that supports diverse student needsProvide mentorship and academic support to students throughout their thesis development, fostering critical thinking and scholarly growthEnsure comprehensive pastoral care for students, offering guidance and support as needed throughout their academic journey, and creating a safe and nurturing environmentCollaborate with Serendipity to offer students access to the institute’s studio space, archive library, and other essential resources, enhancing their learning experienceCoordinate student involvement in Serendipity’s dance festival and summer school, integrating these professional events into the curriculum to support practical learningFacilitate access to industry professionals, international artists, directors, creatives, and scholars, creating opportunities for students to engage with global expertise and diverse perspectivesContribute to the programme’s growth, starting with a cohort of six students in the first year, expanding to nine students in the second year, and reaching twelve students by the third yearMaintain strong communication with students and staff, ensuring a supportive, collaborative, and thriving academic community.Qualifications and ExperienceMA or higher qualification in a relevant field such as Dance, Arts, Heritage, or Black StudiesProven experience in academic teaching, curriculum development, and leadership rolesProficiency in designing and delivering both in-person and online modulesDeep understanding of Black British dance culture and heritage, with a commitment to its preservation and promotion through educationStrong organisational, mentoring, leadership, and pastoral care skills.Immediate Focus of the MA Programme StructureThe MA Black British Dance and Performance programme consists of seven modules: two in-person modules delivered in Leicester and five online modulesA thesis component, supported by one‑on‑one guidance from the Course LeaderStudents will have access to Serendipity’s studio space, archive library, and opportunities to participate in Serendipity’s dance festival and summer schoolAccess to industry professionals and international artists, directors, creatives, as well as international scholars and academics.Benefits of the RoleThe opportunity to shape and lead a pioneering MA programme in Black British Dance and PerformanceWorking with Serendipity Institute for Black Arts and Heritage, a respected leader in Black arts, culture and heritageAccess to exclusive resources, including studio space and archival materials, to support teaching and student developmentEngagement with professional networks and events, such as Serendipity’s dance festival and summer school, enhancing both academic and professional growthOpportunities for students to interact with industry professionals, international artists, directors, creatives, and scholars, enriching their educational experience.How to ApplyInterested applicants should submit their CV along with a cover letter detailing their qualifications, experience and vision for the MA Black British Dance and Performance programme.Applications should be sent to: .Applications should be submitted to Serendipity Institute for Black Arts and Heritage by Friday 28 November 2025, 5.00pm.Interview date: Thursday 11 December 2025. xpwpeyx We look forward to receiving your application.#J-18808-Ljbffr
