Principal Consultant – Geophysics (Mid‑Senior Level)All candidates should make sure to read the following job description and information carefully before applying.Join ERM as a senior technical leader in geophysics and marine surveys, primarily based in Southampton with consideration for other UK offices.About the RoleAs a senior technical leader you will provide advanced technical leadership in geophysics and marine surveys, ensuring ERM remains at the forefront of offshore wind, CCS, hydrogen, and emerging energy markets. Your work will directly influence strategic growth and technical excellence across our global operations.Key ResponsibilitiesLead geophysical interpretation for projects including CCS, cable routes, pipelines and environmental assessments.Design, plan and manage marine surveys with a focus on risk mitigation and vessel time efficiency.Oversee quality control for deliverables: report geophysical data, analyze processes in ESs, EIAs, MEAs, REA/SEAs and ensure data QC across complex projects.Deliver specialist environmental geophysics assessments: biogenic and geological reef evaluations, sediment mobility analysis, shallow seismic characterisation and, when desired, marine archaeological interpretation.Drive client expansion, technical upselling, proposal development and bid preparation, mentoring team members through the process.Identify emerging sectors and advise on hiring, training and strategic planning decisions.Support cross‑functional teams to understand, sell and develop geophysical services.Mentor and guide the team, ensuring delivery excellence and professional growth.Act as a senior technical advisor on complex, high‑impact projects, champion continuous learning and innovation to maintain ERM’s competitive edge.Our Commitment to InclusionERM is committed to an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered to thrive.
