This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced, project-led engineering team designing bespoke automation solutions for a wide range of industrial applications.Working across the full project lifecycle — from early concepts through to detailed design, build support, and installation — you’ll play a key role in turning customer requirements into fully engineered, robust and cost-effective machinery. Occasional visits to customer sites across the UK will be required.What You’ll Be Doing as a Mechanical Design Engineer:Developing mechanical concepts for bespoke special purpose machinery and robotic automation equipmentProducing detailed 3D designs, engineering drawings, and documentationCompleting design calculations, verification work, and technical checksManaging project-related tasks including customer discussions, design reviews, specification of bought-in components, and BOM creationSupporting CE marking, risk assessments, and compliance documentationProviding technical guidance to system build and controls teams throughout the projectWhat We’re Looking For in a Mechanical Design Engineer:Proven mechanical design and concept development experience — ideally within special purpose machinery or automated equipmentAbility to create innovative, practical solutions that balance performance, cost, and customer requirementsStrong 3D CAD skillsGood understanding of xpwpeyx British standards, geometric tolerances, and producing accurate design calculationsFamiliarity with sheet metalwork, machined components, welded fabrications, and mechanical assembly methodsSelf-driven, clear communicator, and comfortable working within a multidisciplinary engineering teamA good appreciation of electrical control systems is advantageousThis role offers an exciting opportunity to work on varied, bespoke machinery projects and further develop your skills within a specialist engineering environment.
