In a Nutshell…We have a new opportunity for a Senior Technical Manager to join our team within Vistry North West Midlands, at our offices in Wolverhampton. As our Senior Technical Manager, you will manage the technical matters relating to a number of projects or a single complex one and supervise the work of other team members in their own tasks.Check you match the skill requirements for this role, as well as associated experience, then apply with your CV below.You will demonstrate a pro‑active approach to design development, working within a team environment from the project's inception through to its completion.You will be tasked with the control of the complete design process involving the management of consultants, liaison with the relevant statutory and local authorities and other internal and external stakeholders as necessary. To ensure the designs complies to all necessary legislation, associated standards and Vistry Group specification, policy, and procedures.Your role requires an excellent base level of Health & Safety, Environmental and Technical knowledge, including a good working knowledge of the Highways & Drainage, Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, Planning, and Affordable Housing.We value in-person collaboration and team culture, but we're also committed to supporting flexible working where possible. We encourage you to raise any specific requirements during the interview process so we can explore how this could be accommodated.BenefitsCompetitive basic salary and annual bonusCompany car, car allowance or travel allowanceSalary sacrifice car scheme available to all employeesUp to 33 days annual leave plus bank holidays increasing to up to 39 days with service2 Volunteering days per annumPrivate medical insurance, with employee paid coverCompetitive pension scheme through salary sacrificeLife assurance at 4 x your annual salaryShare save and share incentive schemesEmployee rewards portal with many more benefits…ResponsibilitiesBehave in line with our company values - Integrity, Caring and QualityBTEC HND / HNC in Design, Construction or Civil EngineeringExtensive experience working within a technical role at a residential house builderGood level of IT literacy with experience of AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel & WordProven ability in a Technical Manager role, delivering design for projects on time, to budget and quality standards with high customer satisfaction resultsExcellent organization and time management with ability to multitaskCommercially awareAbility to make decisions within authorityAble to lead and work as a team memberExperienced in analysing problems and delivering solutionsStrong mathematical abilityBe able to design and interpret the designs and technical demands of othersProfessional aptitude and appearance at all timesStrives for continuous improvement for the benefit of the companyDriven to achieve customer satisfactionAble to work under pressure, and accept criticism of workBe able to work effectively in a team‑leader roleGood level of communication skills, with the necessity to liaise with internal staff and external bodiesBe practical and methodical with good analytical skillsWilling to work extra to meet deadlines as and when the business needs require itDesirableMember of professional body e.g. ICE, CIAT, CIOB, MCIATPrinciple Designer and associated Health and Safety training / qualificationsUse of Viewpoint drawing management systemProficient use of Auto CadManagement of technical fees and services cost to completeContinued professional development and keeping up to date with changes within the industryExperience of people management and project leadingMore about the Senior Technical Manager role…Ensure delivery of surveys & reports required for the development and manage associated requirements from design to completion.Manage the process of obtaining consultant fee proposals and formal appointment documents in accordance with Group procedures.Manage consultants to deliver the civil engineering designs including legal plans and the house type working drawing packs.Obtaining and collating all ancillary specialist drawings including hot water supply, heating, kitchen, stair, lintels, p.c. ground floors, and precast upper floors.Undertaking value engineering assessments and ensure buildability is considered.Ensure submission of designs and securing technical approvals for agreements such as S104, S38 & S278 followed by timely completion of legal agreements.Ensure utility designs and initial mains laying onto site, ensuring legal agreements completed in timely manner.Prepare all drawings and documents for engineering and superstructure elements for tender, followed by the construction issue and sales handover.Coordinate street naming with local authority, complete plot list and distribute internally and externally of the business.Where applicable obtaining Management Company quotations, reviewing, comparing, and providing the Planning, & Technical Directors with recommendation for appointments.Assist in production of Sales brochure, legal and sales handover meetings.Provide information for Housing Association contracts and attendance of progress meetings.Submission of all information to NHBC and obtaining approval of same, obtaining SAP Assessments together with PEA' and EPC's, and any other requirements.Attending and chairing Pre-Start Meetings and briefing all departments on matters related to the engineering and working drawings.Assist the Land, Planning & Development teams with advice during the land acquisition stage and assist in the information to discharge of planning conditions.To monitor and report technical & development fees including S106 obligations.Resolve all technical related queries including conducting site visits and site progress meetings as required.About UsWe build more than homes, we're making Vistry.
