Caulmert currently has an opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to work in the Company’s Engineering Team.Location: The role is hybrid and based in either Greater Manchester or North Wales.ResponsibilitiesLiaising with other members of the design team (either internal or external)Liaising with contractors, clients, third-party organisations and stakeholders, answering queries concerning technical detailingAttendance at design, project progress, and client engagement meetingsCivil design to all relevant standards and European CodesProducing preliminary design solutions and reviewing with clients as part of the design strategyProducing detailed designs, calculations and specifications including GA and technical reviewsHighways adoption applications Section 38 / 278Water company adoption applications Section 104 / 106Road alignments and corridor designSite wide Cut and Fill analysisManaging projects to cost, programme and sustainability criteriaSupervising the engineering technicians on technical / construction details and undertaking QA reviewsMentoring and assisting junior staffComplying with designers’ duties under the CDM RegulationsPromoting the company’s services and being alert to new opportunitiesQualificationsAmbition, commitment and integrityMinimum BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering or equivalentAt least 7 years post-qualification experience in civil engineeringChartered or near-chartered status with a relevant body (MICE)Detailed knowledge of civil design and detailing using all relevant UK and European codes of practiceKnowledge of BREEAM, sustainability objectives and embodied carbonGood experience in engineering analysis and design software, including Microdrainage, Causeway, Site 3D, Civils 3D, AutoCADClient-focused approach with good interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to prepare fee proposals to secure new projects for the businessConfidence and ability in team and project managementAbility to supervise and develop a team whilst working as part of a wider teamStrong attention to detail and accuracy of own work and that of others working for youAbility to take action and make decisions without close supervisionCommercial awarenessUK driving license and own transportCompetent at using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.Pay range and compensation packageAttractive and competitive salary package, reflecting experience and seniorityFlexible working and hybrid options to support work–life balancePrivate medical care, pension, and additional benefitsGenerous holiday entitlement (minimum 5 weeks, plus bank holidays)Investment in your professional development, training, mentoring & CPD supportOpportunity to purchase company shares / equity participation (employee-owned ethos)A friendly, inclusive, sociable environment across multiple officesExposure to a diverse and high-impact project portfolio across sectorsReal opportunity for career progression to Director / Board levelsEqual Opportunity StatementThe Company is an equal opportunities employer and aims to ensure a workplace where people are treated with dignity and respect, and where trust and empowerment are encouraged.
