We provide a wide range of legal services and advice across the Barclays Group, operating at the cutting edge of law, innovation, and regulation.Is this your next job Read the full description below to find out, and do not hesitate to make an application.In this role, you will advise on complex market data vendor agreements (Bloomberg, Moody’s, Refinitiv, S&P Global, etc.), where documentation is typically on vendor terms rather than standard templates. You will be tasked with leading and support transactional work for the Market Data team, including negotiating license rights, redistribution of data, and restrictions around AI usage.To be successful as a Sanctions Process Control Oversight Specialist VP, you should have:Qualified lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister, or equivalent in the UK or another comparable jurisdictionli>Significant experience working with market data vendors and negotiating on their contractual terms.Strong expertise in commercial contracts and technology agreements, ideally within the financial services sector.Knowledge of license rights, data distribution, and AI restrictions in vendor agreements.Proven ability to manage stakeholders and deliver results in a fast‑paced environment.Experience in regulatory frameworks relevant to market data and technology.Track record of process optimisation and continuous improvement.Genuine interest in AI, technology, and innovation.Some other highly valued skills may include:Experience with process improvementExperience with optimisationYou may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in the role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.This role can be based in Manchester, Birmingham or Glasgow.Purpose of the roleTo ensure that the commercial, innovation, technology, real estate, sponsorship, data licensing and service activities (CIT Areas) are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and to help the bank manage legal and reputational risks associated with these activities.AccountabilitiesDevelopment and implementation of best practice legal strategies for risk management and compliance.Legal advice and support to the business on CIT Areas, including regulatory advice and advocacy, innovation and technology strategy, and contract drafting, review and negotiation.Representation of the bank in legal proceedings related to CIT Areas, such as litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations.Creation and review of legal documents including agreements and licenses for commercial services, technology, software, data, real estate, and sponsorship and other legal documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Legal research and analysis to stay up to date on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the bank across the CIT Areas.Developing and delivering training programmes to educate employees on legal and regulatory requirements related to the CIT Areas.Pro‑active identification, communication, and provision of legal advice on applicable laws, rules and regulations (LRRs). Keeping up to date with regards to changes to LRRs in the relevant coverage area. Ensuring that LRRs are effectively allocated to, and adequately reflected within, the relevant policies, standards and controls.Vice President ExpectationsTo contribute or set strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change.
