Join us as a Project Director for Hydrogen & Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) and play a pivotal role in delivering first‑of‑a‑kind initiatives that matter. You’ll be responsible for developing and delivering innovative hydrogen and carbon capture projects, ensuring robust strategies, and building high‑performing teams. Your leadership will directly impact the success of projects that are setting new standards for the industry.What you’ll be doingLeading the delivery of major hydrogen and carbon capture projects, managing teams to deliver safely, on time, and within budget.Recruiting, developing, and performance‑managing a dedicated project team of around 20.Overseeing FEED (Front‑End Engineering Design), planning, and pre‑construction phases to ensure readiness for execution.Developing and implementing contract strategies, working closely with procurement to ensure commercial robustness.Establishing governance and capability frameworks for successful project mobilisation.Driving innovation and continuous improvement, applying novel approaches to first‑of‑a‑kind challenges.Monitoring and reporting on project performance, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards.Acting as the face of the project, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and representing National Gas at key meetings.Championing a culture of collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement across all project phases.About YouYou’re a natural leader who thrives in complex, fast‑paced environments. Your ability to inspire teams, build relationships, and drive results will set you up for success in this high‑impact role.Key Requirements & ExperienceEssentialProven experience leading large‑scale infrastructure projects (ideally in energy, utilities, or similar sectors).Strong contract management and procurement expertise.Experience with FEED and planning / consenting activities.Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and team leadership skills.Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and deliver robust project governance.Valid UK driving licence.Recognised training or qualifications in Health, Safety, Environmental, and Financial management.DesirableChartered status with a relevant professional body.Knowledge of hydrogen and carbon capture technologies.Experience with high‑pressure pipeline or National Transmission System (NTS) operations.Professional qualifications in project management.Experience managing financial controls and value engineering.The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
