You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.A Little More About Your Role…Roles and responsibilities are described below under responsibilities and requirements.ResponsibilitiesMeet the requirements of a Principal Engineer grade and have a proven track record in both leading projects for your discipline and for an overall project team. Demonstrate where your personal input led to the commission being won or successfully delivered.Work with initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of the discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.Work under the direction of the client and interpret project needs to meet full delivery requirements.Provide design and technical advice in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team on a wide range of projects.Supervise the completion of detailed designs and the work of others in this function.Consider project feasibility specific to the discipline and lead the overall feasibility study for the project.Direct others in the production of detailed and performance specifications for the discipline, subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.Brief the project team regularly, including explaining the appointment.Review design programmes and ensure sufficient resource is available to complete the works.Your TeamOur team is comprised of 35 engineers across Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health specialisms.Team locations include Brighton, Southampton, Heathrow, Basingstoke and Guildford with flexibility to work from either location.Projects include major airport and hospital sites; you would report to the Technical Director for Mechanical Engineering.You will work with graduate, assistant, senior and principal engineers, plus BIM and Sustainability specialists to contribute to projects.What We Will Be Looking For You To DemonstrateWorking towards Chartership via an Engineering Council accredited honours degree or specific experience.Degree in Building Services Engineering or applicable discipline, or relevant equivalent experience.Working towards IET Engineer or Chartered Building Services Engineer.Key Technical RequirementsDetailed understanding of the regulations applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this through calculation.Working understanding of latest electrical design software packages to allocate/direction of work on projects.Ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically and effectively.Ability to engage with clients and contractors in technical discussions and debates.Understanding of working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software to allocate/direction of work on projects.Electrical Design SkillsLow voltage distribution systemsLow voltage standby generationUPS systemsCable calculations (via software and by hand)Lighting calculations (via software and by hand)Small powerFire alarmsIntruder detectionAccess control & security systemsDisabled call systemsData cabling and outletsLightning protectionDon’t quite meet all the criteria?
