We expect candidates to bring a real passion and enthusiasm for older adult work, with a range of experience in community and inpatient areas.In this post you will provide professional leadership to a team of psychologists working into community teams including a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), a Rapid Intervention and Treatment Team (RITT), a Memory Assessment Service (MAS) and an older adult inpatient ward.You will be supported by the network psychology lead, and will work alongside operational, clinical and other colleagues to ensure an excellent service for older people in the locality.Main duties of the jobThe successful post holder will be responsible for supervision of junior colleagues and will also work clinically into older adult services in the area, according to need. You will be joining a thriving and supportive older adult psychology specialty, and you will also link with psychology leads from across the mental health network, which incorporates adult mental health and secure services, at regular meetings.Lancaster, Morecambe, South Lakes and Barrow is a great place to be a psychologist. You would be a welcome member of the psychology workforce, both locally and within the trust. There are many opportunities for clinical professional development, peer support and networking with colleagues. We encourage applicants to state clearly on their application forms this request and discuss these options at interview.For more information please visit our website via Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS FT.Job responsibilitiesFor more details on this vacancy please review the attached job description and person specification.Person SpecificationEducation / QualificationDoctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.HCPC registered as a practitioner psychologist (clinical).Eligibility for consultant clinical psychologist appointment approval from external BPS assessor.Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS.Knowledge & SkillsDoctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology, including highly developed knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology and two or more distinct psychological therapies.Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.A high level ability to communicate effectively at both a written and oral level complex, highly technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and a wide range of lay and professional persons within and outside the NHS.Knowledge of legislation and its implication for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to the client group and mental health.ExperienceSubstantial post qualification experience including experience within the older adult settings.Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups across the whole life course, in various settings including outpatient, community, primary care inpatient and residential care settings.
