We’re seeking a dedicated Court of Protection Solicitor to lead our Court of Protection department, providing vital deputyship and trustee support to clients with personal injury or clinical negligence claims involving substantial compensation awards.In Return Fletchers Offers35‑hour working weekBonus scheme (subject to targets being met)35 days holiday a year including bank holidays and Christmas Closure; option to purchase up to 3 extra days per year, with additional days awarded after 5th, 7th and 9th years of employmentPension scheme with tax‑efficient salary sacrifice optionLife Assurance PolicyMedicash policy to cover some dental, optical and other medical expensesCompany sick payEnhanced Maternity, Paternity and IVF schemesFlexible, agile working environment with a positive work‑life balanceVaried calendar of funded company social eventsMonthly voucher awards for winning nomineesSupportive and friendly cultureOngoing training and professional development opportunitiesMain ResponsibilitiesRun your own caseload of Deputyship and Trustee matters, both pre and post settlement of the PI claim whilst supervising junior fee earners and providing technical support to the teamAttend clients at their home, in hospital or in care/nursing homes to discuss and agree budgets and identify other prioritiesLiaise with financial advisors on investmentsPrepare accurate accounts of Deputyship cases including forecasts of expenditure on Deputyship and Trustee cases, and create budgets to ensure funding sustainabilityManage Deputyship applications and other associated applications to the Court of ProtectionDelegate and supervise tasks to junior team members where appropriateCarry out staff supervision, including regular meetings and appraisalsContribute to regular team meetings and training sessionsWhen necessary, attend conferences with counsel, meetings with clients and court outside standard hoursTake part in business development activities and contribute ideas and articlesEssential Skills and ExperienceMinimum of 4 years PQE Court of Protection property & affairs work and experience of setting up and running PI trustsExperience of making applications for statutory wills, gifts etc.Strong empathetic interpersonal skills and ability to deal with a range of people with disabilities, their families and care teams, as well as other legal professionalsHigh degree of professionalism, pride in work, commitment to achieve clients’ goalsStrong leadership skills, ability to lead and manage a growing team in line with company budgets and KPIsEnthusiasm for team building and raising the internal and external profile of the teamAbility to train and develop othersAbility to interact with colleagues and express opinions in a professional and courteous wayExcellent time management and ability to complete tasks within acceptable timescales and meet deadlinesOrganised work approach and compliance with departmental proceduresInitiative and forward thinkingCompliance with office manual proceduresResilient and experience of managing challenging situationsA full clean driving licence is desirableWe reserve the right to close this role before the date specified depending on the calibre and volume of candidates.About Fletchers GroupFletchers is a fast‑growing, dynamic law firm specialising in personal injury and clinical negligence law, with outstanding rankings in The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners.
