Join us at the University of St Andrews as a Student Conduct Officer and make a real impact on student life.Please make an application promptly if you are a good match for this role due to high levels of interest.As part of our Academic Registry, the Student Conduct Officer will work as part of a small team in managing the University’s approach to student conduct matters, working closely with students, staff, and external agencies to uphold our standards of behaviour and safety. From resolving ‘town and gown’ issues, to managing complex non-academic misconduct cases, you will play a key role in upholding the University’s Student Conduct Policy, maintaining the positive reputation of our University, and supporting student wellbeing.In this role, you will:Investigate and resolve reports of student misconduct.Meet with students to assess risk, discuss breaches of conduct and agree outcomes.Work closely with Student Services and schools to direct support to students.Liaise with Police Scotland and local services on community issues.Contribute to policy development and deliver staff training.Lead on projects to improve awareness of our conduct expectations and requirements.This is a complex and demanding area of work, requiring professionalism, tact, discretion, and the ability to navigate complex and highly sensitive issues relating to areas such as sexual misconduct, racism, LGBTQ+ matters, bullying, drug and alcohol abuse, and other types of misconduct.We are looking for:A resilient and flexible team-playerAbility to act calmly in the face of conflict, difficult behaviours, and sensitive topicsA strong awareness of student conduct issuesAn excellent communicator, with experience in providing advice and guidance in all formsA passion for creating and encouraging community-focused behavioursWe are committed to flexible working and will consider appointing this role as a 50/50 job share where appropriate.
