We are seeking a Research Analyst to join a well established team of molecular biology research and technical based scientists covering a diverse range of testing applications at LGC. The core focus of the role will be within the food and commercial DNA analysis teams using DNA approaches to identify and quantify food sample composition, inclusive of GMO analysis. You will join a team of scientists who deliver a diverse range of projects aimed at improving our understanding of molecular based measurements, helping provide delivery support for our current and future commercial DNA projects. Current delivery requirements include sample preparation through to analysis of DNA testing for food, determination of animal/plant species identity, GMO analysis, NGS, digital PCR of food related and measurement services samples. Candidate specification: Required The successful candidate will have a 2:1 degree or above within the areas of molecular biology with a minimum six months of experience within a DNA laboratory with preferable skills in DNA extraction of complex matrix materials. Experience and level of understanding of real-time PCR and PCR DNA analysis software packages and basic statistical analysis Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs Strong method development skills The proven ability to work in a team as well as self-reliance to deliver Good communication skills: both verbal and written Desirable Knowledge of real-time and digital PCR Knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing Practical experience of multiple STR analysis Knowledge of human tissue act, GDPR and scientific working group on DNA analysis methods Knowledge of drafting and amending SOPs Experience of the implementation of ISO17025 accreditation
