Overview to role: With an excellent reputation and track record for training and progressing their graduates, this business are now looking to recruit into the science and technical area of the business. This is an excellent opportunity to train and develop a career in Technical Management in a successful company. Innovation and new product development is a vital part of the company’s strategy and the Technical Department are key to this. You will gain all round experience in technical management, understanding the processes involved when dealing with clients, dealing with technical requirements and assisting with the production of technical specifications for new products as well as changes to current ones. Following a comprehensive induction you start on a progressive and exciting two year training program. This is a permanent role and at the end of the training period you will move into a senior position. Main duties will be as follows: 1 To take responsibility on specific internal and customer development projects as agreed with the Technical Manager. 2 To gain knowledge of material technology from the Technical Manager and through contact with base material suppliers. 3 To develop the ability to provide on-site technical support for customers, attend customer development meetings and liaise with the sales team to recommend suitable specifications for specific applications. 4 To assist in responding to all customer quality issues. 5 To assist in the production of technical standards and specifications for customers. 6 To assist with paperwork relating to customer and supplier complaints. 7 To develop and maintain contact with customer quality assurance departments, being notified of customer quality ratings, communicating results and coordinating actions. 8 To liaise with the Technical Manager and Operations Department on supplier trial availability and assessment. There will inevitably be other duties and responsibilities in the future as the role and your career develop. PERSON SPECIFICATION: A passion for science, technology and communication will be key to this opportunity as you will be dealing with blue chip clients, internal departments as well as presenting information to management and Directors. The products this firm creates will be seen on every retail shop floor acrossthe UK and beyond, and you will be part of this journey. You must have the following to be considered Science focused degree - chemistry, food science, materials technology would be ideal disciplines Good IT skills and particular knowledge/experience of MS Excel Ability to understand technical issues Determined and resourceful Confident Technical and methodical Ability to problem solve with a can do attitude Outgoing and friendly personality Ambitious and looking for a career offerng progression An interest in the environment and sustainability and wanting to see changes within the food packaging arena would be desirable
