Job Overview Following the promotion of the existing post-holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for the permanent role of Deputy Clinical Lead for IAPT Westminster. Candidates will be an IAPT CBT Psychotherapist or a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist with equivalent training and experience to take on a clinical and operational leadership role at the head of one of CNWL’s dynamic, successful and well-regarded IAPT Talking Therapy services based in Westminster. Main Duties of the Job Ensure systematic provision of a high‑quality psychological therapy service to patients and stakeholders of the CNWL Talking Therapies Service. Take responsibility for day‑to‑day operational and clinical management and practice of psychological therapists and other staff working in the service. Join the CNWL Westminster Senior Management Team in delivering excellent mental health and social care across the borough and work with a strong management team within the service. Working for Our Organisation This is a full‑time post (37.5 hours per week, 5 days). The role offers additional supervisory, managerial and service development responsibilities for an appropriately qualified and experienced IAPT CBT Therapist / Clinical or Counselling Psychologist. Applicants Must Have Substantial experience of working as high intensity CBT therapists in an IAPT service, managing complex client presentations and providing formal clinical supervision to IAPT qualified staff and trainees. Current BABCP therapist accreditation as an essential requirement. Good knowledge of the IAPT programme and demonstrated high standards of communication, problem solving, and professional relationships with staff, patients, partners and the general public. Enthusiasm for working within IAPT services and interest in contributing to further development of the IAPT service model. Post Requirements – Detailed Responsibilities Provide expert supervision and support for experienced high intensity therapists, psychological wellbeing practitioners and trainees. Line‑manage a number of staff within the service and contribute to senior clinician cover for duty and evening clinics. Participate in extended hour clinics (8:00 am–8:00 pm) to provide senior cover and offer assessments and treatments to clients at the team base and other sites as appropriate. Carrying a clinical caseload and providing specialist assessment, formulation and interventions to clients using a stepped care model in line with national programme and NICE guidance. The Service Westminster Talking Therapies is a long‑established service with a reputation for excellence. It offers Low intensity and High intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapies alongside a Counselling service provided by our partner, Mind. Offices are located in Paddington and Victoria with GP partner sites across the borough. The service combines face‑to‑face and remote working (home working or from office). Person Specification Training And Qualifications – Essential Criteria Doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or equivalent) with accreditation by the BPS, or Doctoral level training in counselling psychology (or equivalent – masters level plus completed post‑qualification training). OR Post‑qualification training in Cognitive Behavioural Treatment (CBT) leading to accreditation. HCPC registration, if a practitioner psychologist. Full accreditation with the BABCP. Training And Qualifications – Desirable Criteria Pre‑qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology. Post‑qualification training in specialised areas of CBT provision (perinatal mental health, long‑term medical conditions, older adults). IAPT LTC Training. Experience – Essential Criteria Substantial post‑qualification experience of working within an IAPT service as a qualified high intensity therapist. Experience of operational management and service development within an IAPT service. Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across physical and mental health conditions and across care settings. Experience of supervising trainees within a clinical health service. Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision of staff from a range of clinical backgrounds. Experience – Desirable Criteria Experience of organising services to meet commissioning targets and operational objectives. Experience of the application of CBT to different cultural contexts. Experience of carrying out psychometric assessments. Experience of working with people with long‑term physical health conditions. Experience of working in perinatal mental health. Experience of working with older adults. Other – Essential Criteria Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi‑media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings. Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate. Other – Desirable Criteria Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
