It also leads on Trust-wide performance for Elective and Cancer Services. This post is for 10 Programmed Activities (PA) with 5 PAs for the Divisional Director role, 5 PAs for Direct Clinical Care (DCC) in the relevant speciality plus Management Allowance. Additional PA's will be agreed as part of Job Plan and Service needs. Interview date and stakeholder session: Week Commencing 05 January 2026. Main duties of the job To work closely with both the Chief Medical Officer & Chief Operating Officer to develop the Trust's medical provision & and operational clinical services. To contribute fully to the development of strategy & and policy, delivery of statutory and corporate responsibilities including leading financial & performance management, working in close co-operation with members of the Board in defining the Trust's strategy & business plan, determining the acquisition & deployment of resources to achieve these objectives. Provide exceptional leadership to both medical & operational staff within the Division - leading in a professional, respectful, collaborative & compassionate way, in line with the Trust's values. Medical lead for the Trust's Service Improvement Programme in respect of the Division and act as champion for patient safety, clinical effectiveness, and quality. Work in partnership with colleagues across the Trust to drive the achievement of the Trust's corporate goals, business plan, achieving all Divisional performance standards incorporating quality, safety, contractual, people and financial. Act as an ambassador for the Trust, ensuring the positive development of the Trust brand, championing the Trust's values and ensuring the recognition of the Trust in providing exceptional healthcare for patients About us Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state‑of‑the‑art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities. A new Urgent Emergency Care Centre was opened in March 2023. The two-storey development has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity and has provided almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space. Person Specification Qualifications Medical Qualification and Royal College Membership GMC Registration Experience Senior professional with experience of high level leadership and management Developing and implementing clinically related strategies to improve quality and efficiency of systems Successful track record delivering high quality services in a multi‑disciplinary healthcare environment Evidence of management of poor performance Leading change in challenging environments Knowledge and experience of quality and safety, mortality and clinical outcome improvement agendas Budgetary management experience Skills Experienced practising clinician with an in depth understanding of clinical standards and governance.
