Position Ontologist Location: Manchester Area, United Kingdom (Remote) Notice period: Immediate joiners preferred Department: Pharmaceutical Technology & Development (PT&D) About the Role We're looking for an experienced Ontology Specialist to join our growing PT&D Data Governance team. You'll help shape how we manage and connect scientific and operational data across the pharma life cycle— from discovery to development—to drive smarter, data‑driven decisions. What You'll Do Design, build, and maintain ontologies and taxonomies to support data integration across PT&D. Collaborate with scientists, data engineers, and IT teams to connect data and improve interoperability. Develop and apply standards such as RDF, OWL, SKOS, SHACL for data exchange and consistency. Support knowledge graph development and promote ontology‑driven data management. Balance strategic thinking and hands‑on work, influencing data strategy while building real solutions. What We're Looking For Strong background in ontology design, data curation, or semantic technologies. Experience with RDF, OWL, SPARQL, graph databases, and enterprise data tools. Clear communicator who can bridge science, data and technology. Curious, proactive, and comfortable working in both strategic and technical roles.
