Site Supervisor – Waste Management (HWRC) – Burnley, Lancashire Application for the Site Supervisor Full time Waste Management HWRC role at LNB Commercial Capital. Salary: £25,989 – £28,142 per annum | 40 hours per week | Permanent, Full time | Location: Burnley, Lancashire Qualifications The post holder will have relevant certificates of competence or equivalent, for example Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC) Level 4, Occupational Certificate of Competence (OCC), First Aid at Work, or must be able to demonstrate the ability to achieve competence within a reasonable timescale. Essential Requirements The ability to interpret and implement systems, policies or procedures, follow pre‑determined instructions and record and report information accurately. The ability to issue accurate instructions to other members of staff and supervise the delivery of those instructions. The ability to lead by example. Good communication skills and a commitment to provide high levels of customer service. A commitment to the recycling and re‑use of waste. A commitment to health and safety. Role Context The Site Supervisor (HWRC) reports directly to the Assistant Operations Manager and receives day‑to‑day direction from the Site Manager(s). The role involves supervising operatives on the HWRC, implementing pre‑determined working systems and procedures, ensuring safety, compliance and specified standards, including council policies. Post holders make decisions on how and when specific staff duties are carried out and respond to situations independently. Whilst actively involved in operations, the Site Supervisor will also monitor delivery of duties by other staff and ensure effective, efficient work and excellent customer service. A commitment to recycling and re‑use of waste means actively maximizing the amount of waste separated for recycling and re‑use. Responsibilities also include recording all required information and reporting any issues that arise in day‑to‑day operation, including staffing issues, hazard reporting, near misses, defects and maintenance issues. The post holder will ensure duties are allocated in advance of absence and that all HWRC staff are sufficiently trained for reporting and recording systems. Typical Duties Supervise, direct and assist HWRC operatives in day‑to‑day duties. Ensure that tasks are carried out daily and that pre‑defined operating standards are met. Record and report information. Engage directly with customers, including managing difficult situations. Maximize waste separated for re‑use or recycling by retrieving and encouraging proper container use. Ensure HWRCs comply with quality, environmental and health and safety standards. Use specialist equipment such as excavators and assist with training others. Liaise with contractors to ensure compliance with site rules and standards. Assist in running re‑use shops and other re‑use activities. Pre‑plan tasks to ensure consistent delivery of operations in advance of absences. Train all HWRC operatives to maintain standards and reporting/recording systems in their absence. Support the Assistant Operations Manager(s) and Site Manager(s) in delivering aspects of their roles commensurate to the post’s grade. Additional Requirements Required to work on bank holidays. Required to undertake relevant competency qualifications if not already held and renew or refresh as required. Required to be trained in operation of any mobile or mechanical plant associated with the role and operate that plant as a daily duty. Required to work at other operational facilities within reasonable distance of the specified facility; expenses paid for travel where applicable, with travel arrangements determined by the post holder.
