Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist CCNS The Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist will work as part of a team providing comprehensive care packages for children and young people with epilepsy and neurological conditions, both in the hospital and community settings throughout Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB). They will meet the changing needs of the epilepsy service, link community and primary care services using joint protocols and guidelines, and participate in the delivery of education for health professionals, schools, and children and their families within the Epilepsy Service. Based between Royal Glamorgan Hospital and Prince Charles Hospital, the post manages caseloads alongside the Epilepsy CCNS nurses on those sites and supports other members of the team where there is a service need. Qualifications Welsh Skills Desirable: Welsh language skills at Level 3 (CEFR B2) or above are considered an advantage. Fluency is not required. Responsibilities Work as a member of the Children’s Nursing Team to deliver responsive and flexible nursing care and support to children and young people with epilepsy in diverse settings across CTMUHB sites. Assess, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care for individual children. Act as a key worker for families and provide specialist advice and education that is child and family centred, promoting social inclusion. Participate in the implementation of the Framework for assessing children and families for continuing care packages, health promotion initiatives, standard setting, audit processes, protocol development, and quality improvement initiatives. Support and educate colleagues and other health care professionals, including participating in consultant‑led clinics and facilitating nurse‑led clinics when competent. Communicate highly sensitive, complex information regarding diagnosis, prognosis and treatment regularly.
