They are responsible for supporting the Project Engineer with the delivery of projects ensuring work is carried out in a safe and sustainable manner while meeting the cost, time and quality constraints of the project. About You As a key member of the Water Consultancy business, your role as an Assistant Engineer is critical to helping us deliver great projects for our Water Industry clients. You will be working alongside a multi-disciplinary team of water project experts on a range of capital delivery projects. You're making a meaningful impact on millions of lives in the UK, leaving a legacy for generations to come. Your Responsibilities Assist in the design and planning of water infrastructure projects. Prepare and review survey data. Prepare technical reports, drawings and specifications. Analyse data from flow, pressure and water quality assessments to identify potential issues and recommend solutions. Work with senior engineers, clients and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met. Ensure all designs and projects adhere to local and national regulations, sustainability practices and industry standards, and meet all responsibilities as outlined in the RPS HSE policy and management systems. Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Strong, demonstrable understanding of the hydraulic network. Water industry knowledge: clean water networks, infrastructure and water quality parameters. Good communication skills – oral and written. Competency in creating schematics, drawings and technical documents. Understanding of field work relevant to the role. QA experience of reviewing work produced by others.Experience working in a team setting, with exposure to client‑faced interactions considered a plus. Strong data analysis skills. Capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Experience in network modelling applications such as InfoWorks ICM, InfoWorks WS Pro or SynerGEE; InfoAsset experience also beneficial. Knowledge of GIS software (preferably MapInfo, ArcGIS, QGIS). Proficient with MS Office suite focusing on Excel, and Power BI being advantageous. Qualifications Preferably degree qualified in a relevant technical subject. What’s in it for you?
