Yunex Traffic designs, markets, manufactures, installs, and maintains a wide portfolio of international traffic management products and is the UK market leader in the traffic signal business. This includes intersection and pedestrian traffic controllers, intelligent urban traffic control systems, variable message signs, public transport, and car‑park guidance systems to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow in congested urban and inter‑urban areas. The Challenge Part of being a #TrafficTransformer apprentice at Yunex Traffic means you get to work on real‑life projects whilst also being supported on a guided learning journey, and often experiencing different areas within the business. This will be a Degree Apprenticeship, over a 4‑year period. Role Specific Requirements Align with our Yunex Traffic values, including Zero Harm, Innovation, Customer Focus, and Ownership. Be willing to travel to multiple of our Yunex Traffic sites across the UK for training. Desire to contribute in a challenging and diverse environment. Willing to continuously research, learn and be creative. The ability to learn and adapt, recognise changing trends, and tackle the unexpected with enthusiasm. Essential Skills Enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions. Have a willingness to self‑learn, research and take a creative approach to problem solving. Possess good organisational and time management skills to assist in completing the academic qualifications and occupational skills developments within this apprenticeship. Take ownership of challenges and ideas. Be forward thinking and inquisitive. Whilst not essential, it would be a bonus if you already have experience with: Java, Databases, Cloud Technologies, and Kubernetes. Basic Skills Have good communication skills, both written and verbal. Demonstrate effective listening and teamwork skills, to create a collaborative work environment and strengthen relationships. Be IT literate; able to use Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Gain exposure to new technologies and experience from enterprise software solutions. Spend up to half of your time on personal development, innovation and group business impact projects. Spend up to 5 days a year volunteering and STEM activities. As a member of one of the Agile software or embedded software development teams you will Work with a product owner to understand and influence requirements. Take part in collaborative planning and estimating of product features. Design and document your software artefacts using industry‑leading tools and processes. Create effective and secure software solutions using contemporary software development languages. Perform code reviews, debugging and refactoring to improve code quality and efficiency. Demonstrate new functionality. Learn to use automated testing tools to ensure quality standards are met. Additionally, if you take the engineering management track, you will learn to Manage requirements, costs, resource utilisation and variations. Manage a positive relationship with stakeholders through outstanding communication. Ensure all employees work safely and their workplace needs are understood and managed. Promote a culture of innovation, autonomy and mastery to deliver strategic aim and vision. The location of this apprenticeship role will be Poole, Dorset. Recruitment Process Applications for our Apprenticeship roles will close on 16th February 2026. For this role, we will be holding in‑person interviews, some roles may also require attendance to a virtual interview, or in‑person assessment centre. Assessment centres typically include a combination of tasks and activities such as group problem‑solving tasks, individual interviews, presentations, and role simulation exercises. Interviews are typically competency based and a chance for us to find out what your motivations are for your next career. Our Apprentices will join the business on Tuesday 1st September 2026, so you must be available from this date.
