Qualitative Researcher in Applied Health Research Qualitative Researcher in Applied Health Research role at The University of Sheffield. 80% WTE fixed‑term contract for 24 months, starting 1 March 2026. Overview Recruit experienced researcher for a new study evaluating day‑case hip and knee replacements. The work involves interviewing patients, family members and health‑care professionals about their experiences. Main Duties and Responsibilities Recruit patients, family members and health‑care professionals for semi‑structured interviews. Collaborate with the Clinical Trials Research Unit to secure ethical approvals. Conduct one‑to‑one qualitative interviews by telephone, virtual or in person. Prepare data: liaise with transcription service, clean transcripts, and import into NVivo. Analyse data using thematic analysis. Present interim and final findings to the team and at academic conferences. Write first‑author manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals. Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade. Person Specification Diverse community; a culture of belonging and respect. Criteria Essential Good honours degree in a relevant discipline (health sciences, psychology, sociology, etc.). PhD or equivalent experience in applied health research. Experience undertaking and analysing qualitative interviews in a funded research project. Understanding of high‑quality qualitative research conduct. Experience using NVivo or similar software. First‑author academic journal publications reporting qualitative research. Effective verbal communication skills. Experience working collaboratively within a team. Desirable Experience of research within the NHS. Effective written communication skills, including report writing and presentation delivery. Experience of undertaking research with patients. Salary & Benefits Base pay range: £38,784 – £47,389.
