Our Finance organization is seeking a VP of Expense Management in our Worcester, MA offices in a hybrid work arrangement.

This is a full time, exempt role.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting directly to the SVP, Deputy CFO, this role is essential to the success of the organization. He/she will be responsible for leading and developing a team of motivated expense focused professionals, partnering with Sourcing and business leaders throughout the company to provide data and insight in support of the organization-wide strategic planning process. This role will be critical in helping to drive business performance.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Expense oversight in support of organization-wide strategic planning across multiple business units, product lines, and departments. Must be adept at partnering with business & Finance leaders to build and lead a strong centralized expense management function that is both strategic and agile.
  • Drive executive level analytics and communication for all expense initiative trends and results. Customers include CFO, CEO, Partner Group and Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for support of the Hanover's agile investment process, partnering with other Senior leaders to support the agile investment process, aimed at improving transparency, oversight and effectiveness of all company investments.
  • Lead expense management function that drives effective unitized cost structure through ongoing analysis and continuing efficiency.
  • Provide insightful and actionable reporting on financial and operating results and key performance indicators to ensure sharp organizational focus on critical value creation opportunities.
  • Oversight of Enterprise Project Management Office, partnering with leaders across the company to track investments and ensure maximum return.
  • Build and drive an effective expense & analytics reporting process.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to the SVP, Business Performance and FP&A.
  • Lead and develop a team comprised of proactive, thoughtful, and exceptional performers.

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; a Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Data & Analytics space.
  • Builds relationships based on trust, transparency, and inclusivity that enable idea generation and constructive debate.
  • A proven Finance leader with a demonstrated track record of success and a minimum of 10 years of expense focused, progressive experience.
  • Will have managed and led expense functions that proactively support the growth of a company or other business financial functions.
  • P&C experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be operationally oriented with a keen focus on process, metrics, and results.
  • Will have thorough experience building and/or operating a best-in-class expense/analytics function.
  • He/she will be inquisitive and innovative in their approach.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed and have the ability and desire to have real impact on an organization.
  • Exhibits the ability to work well under pressure to provide results in a short timeframe.
  • A highly responsive, goal-oriented individual who will bring significant energy and drive to directly impact a growing business.
  • Must have the desire and demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (ie. US Citizen or Greencard holder).
